We’re Going on a Teddy Hunt

By Martha Mumford & Cherie Zamazing
Reviewed by Mia Macrossan
This is part of the popular series The Bunnies of Hoppity Hill. Young children love lift-the-flap books and here is one that is sure to engage and delight. We’re Going on a Teddy Hunt features Barley, Biscuit, Bramble and Boo as they go out searching for their teddy bears before they all go to bed. You can tell where this is going, can’t you?
They go past some sleeping mice, some fluffy lambs, hedgehogs having a last bedtime treat, some ladybirds and some sleepy birds singing lullabies. A storm causes some extra excitement before they all go to bed, tucked in with their teddies which they found in various places along the way.
Illustrated in a colourful and whimsical style, with brief text on each page and a refrain ‘Can you find our teddy bears before we go to bed?’, plus the repetition of ‘We’re going on a teddy hunt,’ not to mention the enticing flaps, all combine to create an appealing bed time read for little ones.
A perfect book for the home collection and an excellent gift one-year-olds.
