I’m Not Afraid of Spiders

By Caitlin Henderson & Annie Henderson
CSIRO Publishing 2026
Reviewed by Mia Macrossan
A book about Australian spiders told by sisters Caitlin (words) and Annie (pictures). Told in verse and illustrated in bold closeup with expressive human reactions this is a book that aims to demystify spiders, lessen the fear they engender and generally to inform and entertain the young reader.
We read about their sticky webs, why they have eight legs and eight eyes, what their hair is for, and the many different sizes and varieties they come in. The back matter has specific zoological information with a page on venom and danger to people. There is also a glossary.
A useful book for teachers and parents who want to share and explore the world of spiders with young children.
For ages 5 to 9
