AI has become an integral part of our lives even though many people are not sure what it is, how it works exactly, and are concerned about its impact on our future.
This book aims to inform and explain in a user-friendly way the very complex world of artificial intelligence and its increasing importance in our lives.
It consists of four chapters: How does AI work? AI in action; How AI is changing our world and Into the future. Each chapter is broken up into what is now such a common feature of information books, the two-page topic spread. So, in the chapter How AI is changing the world (for me the most interesting one) you can find out about AI and art, Deepfakes, Echo chambers, AI in schools, the future of work and more. As you can see from this small example the impact of AI is enormous and wide ranging, its everywhere.
Each two page spread attempts to convey the salient points in a reader friendly way and succeeds most of the time. For a first look at a topic this is an excellent resource, succinct, informative and engaging for young readers. I googled one such, Deepfakes, just to see what information was out there and was overwhelmed by courses, videos, definitions, and more. The information condensed into two pages here is a much better introduction and basis for further exploration.
Combined with colourful graphics, an imaginative layout that keeps the visuals varied and appealing, and a lively and informative text as well as a glossary and index, this is a very useful book indeed.
