Pocket Potters – Little Guides to the Harry Potter Stories
Reviewed by Mia Macrossan
Hagrid has to be one of J. K Rowling’s most popular creations and this book, devoted solely to him and his story, is very welcome. It is one of the Pocket Potters, a series of guides to important characters in the Potter universe. It is gloriously illustrated by the talented Olia Muza and a great size, slightly bigger than a paper back but not as big as a normal picture book.
Each double page spread covers a special interesting topic about Hagrid: his size (hands the size of dustbin lids); his history; his relationship with Harry; that pink umbrella; his job as Keeper of Keys and Grounds; his hut, what he keeps in his pockets’ and his relationship with magical creatures.
This book is just delightful – sprinkled with quotes carefully placed on quite crowded pages, but each so well designed that exploring each spread is entertaining and rewarding. This is one way to get you back to reading the original stories and for those who have, this gives you that special familiarity with a well-loved character.
An enjoyable book to browse or read from cover to cover.
Other books in the series include Dobby, Luna Lovegood, Professor McGonagall, Dumbledore, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and even Harry Potter himself.
