StoryLinks in the Wild is a community project that shares children’s books through “catch and release”, where you find a book, read it, and release it back into the community.
StoryLinks seeks to promote connection through reading, to showcase stories and to provide more surprising ways to promote reading to children.
Each book has a sticker on the front cover which explains the project. It has a QR code which links to this website if you need more information.
StoryLinks in the Wild means you can find a children’s book anywhere in a public community space. It could be a bus stop, a playground, or your local park. Keep your eyes open!
When you ‘Catch’ a book
You can easily identify it by the sticker on the front cover. While it includes a recommended reading age this is only a guide. Children’s reading tastes and abilities vary enormously.
StoryLinks is not responsible for the contents or condition of any book released into the community. You decide if the book is appropriate for your child.
This book sharing operates on an honour system. We encourage you to return the book back into the community.
When you ‘Release’ a book
You don’t need to return the book where you found it. You can ‘release’ the book anywhere in a sheltered community space.
We would love you to share on social media where you caught a StoryLinks in the Wild book and where you released it, so we can see where it is travelling. The author and illustrator would also love to see where their book has been, so share with them, if you like.
