Kittens Do Not Care for Baths

By Ali Rutsteiin & Niña Nill

This is another successful collaboration by the creators of the CBCA Notable Ladybirds Do Not Go To Daycare. This time the story is about Maya who is playing in the back yard and reluctant to come inside and have her bath. Wearing her kitten ears and tail she bounds, pounces and climbs around in the garden always finding a reason not to have a bath. Her patient and inventive Dad finally manages to entice her inside and there is a satisfying and surprising conclusion to the story.
Ali Rutstein and Niña Nill have again created a lively and appealing character, full of  mischievous energy and invention. The situation is one very familiar in families with young children who are often reluctant to stop their imaginative play for a boring bath.
With its bright colours, appealing main character, and well paced narrative this story will find many fans amongst young children.
Niña Nill is one of the artists exhibiting at the  2025 Book Links Exhibition: StoryArt at the Richard Randall Gallery 4 -13 April.
