‘Today is a special day. We’re going to the Zoo!’ begins this charming and informative account of mum and two children spending the day at Taronga Zoological Park. They do the rounds, seeing wallabies and emus playing together, keeping quiet near the koala enclosure (it’s nap time), and watching the chimpanzees play and climb. There is a beautiful double page spread of their visit to the giraffes with the Sydney cityscape with the opera house and the harbour bridge in the background. They sit and have their lunch and watch the zookeeper feed the tortoise, then off they go to see more animals.
