Duck for Cover (Trashy Tales #1)

Duck For Cover is the first book in the upcoming Trashy Tales series, written by Kate and Jol Temple and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh.
Duck For Cover follows a mischievous bin chicken named Benny and his two best friends. Benny’s best friends include Scrap, a rat who collects trash, and Tweeter, a sparrow who is too lazy to fly himself around so uses a drone.  Benny, Scrap and Tweeter are in a flap because seagulls have stolen Benny’s favourite food. Hot chips for breakfast! Plus an (annoyingly) cute duckling is following him around. How will Benny and his friends get their breakfast with so many things going wrong?
Wait a minute, I hear you say… Haven’t we had a picture book about a bin chicken? Yes! And this one is just as hilarious! This junior fiction adventure is from the same brilliant minds that brought us the Bin Chicken picture book series, the Bush Turkey picture book series, as well as a range of fantasy chapter books, graphic novels and picture books.
The illustrations, by Ronojoy Ghosh, show expressive characters in black and white with splashes of blue. I’m always amazed at how illustrations can add some much to a story with just a few simple lines.
If you enjoyed the hilarity of the Bin Chicken picture books and are looking for something for an emerging reader 5+, this is the perfect book for you!
