Earthspeak is a debut book for Perth Noongar man, Sean McCann. Aimed at 4- to 8-year olds, and celebrating the land of his culture, he invites his reader to come with him on a journey to a special place where if we look, listen and feel we might hear earth speak and maybe even feel her heartbeat. With illustrations by First Nation woman Jade Goodwin, the pages are filled with warmth, colour, and connection — with lots of heart, nature, and playful details. 
A family and their dog head off for a bush walk to a special place on Noongar Country. As they walk, their father explains that this is where you can see how marr, wind, kep, water, and karla, fire, shaped and crated the land. The children, hear water crashing onto rocks, feel the wind, and learn about how the wind and water have shaped the earth. Together with some Noongar vocabulary, the children learn how storms are created, the importance of lightning and fire for the flora and fauna and the respect that should be given to Boodjar, or mother earth.
Jade Goodwin has illustrated many books including the Little Ash, Tennis Camp Diaries, Yarn Quest series and several picture books including Goorramindi the Crocodile. In Earthspeak, she covers the pages with the warm colours of the Australian rugged landscape, the unique bright flora and together with the text that include eight Noongar words, we see caring parents sharing an ancient culture with their children.
