R A Spratt is the hugely popular author of the Friday Barnes series, The Peski Kids and the hilarious Nanny Piggins series. Quite a few of the stories in this collection are retellings of well-known stories given a new twist by Nanny Piggins herself. Stories include Chicken Little Brain, The Twelve Dancing Pigcesses, The Red Shoes, Rumpelstiltskin, Tom Thumb and The Hideously Ugly Duckling as well as a story featuring Friday Barnes in The Case of the Purloined Pudding.

These 400 pages contain something to amuse everyone, a quirky collection of 28 stories which also includes a pronunciation guide, a comment about the geography of stories and two recipes (Nanny Piggins is very fond of cakes and they feature in many of the stories).
