Each letter has a keyword underneath it to show what type of geological feature it is, e.g. the keyword for A for Artesian is basin. This is a great introduction for the child interested in rocks, what they are, where they come from, why they are the way they are.
Every page explores a geoscientific marvels, includes a place map, large illustration and always includes the Traditional Owner groups of each location where possible. Topics covered include craters, Uluru and other famous places, fossils, various types of rock, and more. Each page also features a separate Fact block, with an interesting snippet of extra information for those wanting to know more.
The illustrations, which use a soft palette of colours which echo those of the Australia landscape, are plentiful, carefully labelled and generous in size.
Australia is unique in many ways and this is an attractive and engaging way to inform young readers of what our country has to offer.
